Frequently Asked Questions

What's there to do at night?

At night, life aboard a cruise ship really turns on. There's dancing; live entertainment in nightclubs, discos and lounges; feature films; and parties with all your new friends. Most ships even have casinos. There are also special events like the Captain's Cocktail Party, Passenger Talent Night, Masquerade Parade, and the Late Night Buffet. The night can go on as long as you want - even until sunrise at sea.

Is there a charge for entertainment?

Never. On a cruise vacation, the entertainment is included - no cover, no minimum, no admission ticket. The shows are live, the movies are first-rate, and the variety is limitless.

Is it easy to meet people?

A cruise ship is a great place to make new friends in a relaxed, cordial atmosphere. You'll have plenty in common to talk about at dinner, cocktails, the pool, or along the promenade. Many guests arrange to meet again on future cruises.

Will there be people like me?

No matter what you've heard, there's no such thing as a typical cruise passenger. Guests include all ages, singles, couples, and families. The passenger mix varies by ship and cruise. Ask us to recommend the best match for your lifestyle.

What should I pack?

Pack like you would for any resort. Days are casual, whether onboard or ashore. Evenings vary-some call for more formal wear such as a cocktail dress, dark suit, or dinner jacket for the Captain's Gala, while others are relaxed.

Will I need a tuxedo?

On some cruises, formal dinners or parties are part of the fun. But don't feel you must buy a tuxedo. If you'd like, many ships offer tuxedo rentals. Even on the most formal ships, a dark suit and tie are fine.
